Sauvignon Blanc - Jean-Pierre Pellegrin Domaine Grand'Cour 2023
The estate
Jean-Pierre Pellegrin is one of the stars of the Geneva vineyard, even though the man is much more discreet and humble than the glittering image that clings to him.
In 1989, he received his father's estate and took his destiny as a winemaker into his own hands. In 1994, he personally restored the magnificent family farm, which is 600 years old, and built a cellar from old stones that is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the canton. However, even though it is rooted in a place of long tradition, the Grand’Cour estate is anything but old-fashioned; quite the opposite.
On his 15 hectares and on 15 others that he has recently taken over, 'JPP' cultivates, with the help of his eternal second Bruno and his teams,
about twenty grape varieties, which they transform into as many cuvées as are sought after by the best restaurants and the most discerning enthusiasts.
Viticulture aims to be organic, but without certification: Jean-Pierre Pellegrin has banned all chemical products in the vineyards and vinifies many of his cuvées with indigenous yeasts. The wines are aged in tanks, in concrete amphorae, in Burgundy barrels, or in very high-quality Bordeaux barrels, depending on the origin of the grape varieties and plots. The range is wide, but of impressive quality.
Flagship of the red wine cellar with the aptly named 'P', its Grand’Cour red is among the most accomplished blends in the country. It possesses a rare tannic finesse for a great wine made from Bordeaux grape varieties, especially in the canton of Geneva. More than a reference, it has even been selected to represent the estate at the Memory of Swiss Wines. A true symbol!

Tasting: Typical and fruity aromas of stone fruits and lime, highlighted by beeswax and elderflower. Elegant and aromatic palate, the crunchy acidity gives it good tension and sap. The complex and deeply fruity aromas are confirmed, coupled with floral notes and mineral touches. Persistent and powerful in the finish. |
