Pessac-Léognan - Domaine de Chevalier 2010

The domain

Owned by the Bernard family since 1983, the magnificent Knight's Domain figure at the top of the greatest Classified Growths of Bordeaux. Located in a green setting south of Bordeaux, the estate is an essential reference among the great wines of Pessac-Léognan.

The Domaine de Chevalier watches over a rare vineyard comprising 45 hectares of vines dedicated to red wine. The vineyard is made up of vines that are 30 years old on average and rests on a gravelly terroir with clayey-gravelly subsoils.

The manual harvest in crates is carried out in successive selections depending on the maturity of the grapes. Rigorous sorting is carried out in the vineyard and then in the cellar before and after destemming. Vinification is carried out on a piecemeal basis in small tulip vats, thus ensuring optimal extraction. The wine is aged in barrels (including 1/3 of new wood) for a period of 16 to 18 months, accompanied by regular stirring during the first 4 months.
