Saint-Estèphe - Château Montrose 2001

The domain

Second Classified Growth in the official classification of 1855, Château Montrose is one of the essential properties of the very renowned appellation Saint Estephe, located on the Left Bank in the region of Bordeaux. Bearing witness to more than two centuries of history, Château Montrose takes its name from the color of the heather that covered the moor of the Château lands.

Spread over an area of 95 hectares, the vineyard of Château Montrose has the rare particularity of being made up of a single piece while being representative of a veritable mosaic of terroirs. Its unique location on a complex geological stack several million years old favors the combination of gravel soils mixed with sand on the surface with a subsoil richer in clay, ideal for the water resources of the vine.

Strengthened by their exceptional terroir, the wines of Château Montrose are distinguished by their typical style of the appellation Saint Estephe. Powerful, strongly marked by the imprint of the Cabernet Sauvignon in their youth, they develop over time a bouquet of rare complexity. Sign of excellence of the Grands Crus Classés, they combine finesse and elegance with structure and material, a guarantee of exceptional aging potential.
