Saint Emilion Grand Cru - Château Troplong Mondot 2020

The domain

In a region where most properties hardly exceed 10 ha, Troplong Says (founded in the 17th century) is with its 33 hectares one of the great domains of Saint Emilion. Castle Troplong Mondot, Premier Grand Cru Classé, gravitates at the top of the appellation Saint Emilion with in particular a grape variety of Merlot at 90%, of Cabernet-Franc at 5% and Cabernet Sauvignon at 5 %. Coming from a great clay-limestone soil, the wine of Troplong Says has complex tannins that open up over time to deep aromas of black truffle. Christine Valette-Pariente and her husband Xavier Pariente have managed the estate together since 1980 and have ensured the excellence of powerful, finely structured wines, with ample and complex tannins, with a nose of truffles and blackberries. Following the takeover of Château Troplong Mondot by the SCOR group in 2017, Aymeric of Gironde, formerly Managing Director of Cos d'Estarnel, took over the chairmanship of the management board of the property and aims to make Troplong Says one of the greatest wines in the world.
