Saint-Estèphe - Château Montrose 1990

The estate

Second Cru classé in the official classification of 1855, Château Montrose is one of the must-visit properties of the highly renowned Saint-Estèphe appellation, located on the Left Bank in the Bordeaux region. Witnessing more than two centuries of history, Château Montrose takes its name from the color of the heathers that covered the moorland of the Château's lands.

Spanning an area of 95 hectares, the vineyard of Château Montrose has the rare characteristic of being a single block while being representative of a true mosaic of terroirs. Its unique location on a complex geological stack millions of years old promotes the meeting of gravelly soils mixed with sand on the surface with a subsoil richer in clay, ideal for the vine's water resources.

With their exceptional terroir, the wines of Château Montrose stand out for their typical style of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. Powerful, strongly marked by the imprint of Cabernet Sauvignon in their youth, they develop over time a bouquet of rare complexity. A sign of excellence among the Grands Crus Classés, they combine finesse and elegance with structure and substance, ensuring exceptional aging potential.
