Pomerol - Chateau Gazin 2016

The domain

The Pomerol vineyard developed from the 12th century to the Revolution, under the aegis of the Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta.

Château Gazin, which was a village in the 18th century, is probably located on the site of the "Hospital de Pomeyrols" built by the Knights to welcome pilgrims on the way to Santiago de Compostela. The name of the second wine of the vineyard "l'Hospitalet de Gazin" is directly inspired by it.
The Chateau Gazin in Pomerol experienced serene, healthy harvests and gave itself the time in successive waves to harvest its grapes to ensure that it was picked at perfect maturity. The harvests were very spread out, particularly for the Merlots (September 22, 27, 28, 29 and 30). Thus, the 87% of Merlot, the 5% of Cabernet Franc and the 8% of Cabernet Sauvignon which were retained in the blend of Gas 2016 made it possible to vinify and raise a wine combining aromatic richness and straightforwardness in the mouth.

Format : 75 cl

 Country: France

Region: Bordeaux

Cultivation: sustainable agriculture

Grapes: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc

Tasting: The dress is dense, marked. If the nose seems timid at the start, it reveals itself completely with agitation on a long and pretty red fruitiness including cherry and blackcurrant. The aromas are fresh. The palate impresses with its density and the very straight side of the tannins with an elegant but tense quality of touch.

A very fine Pomerol that will age very well. Very successful!
