Bourgogne Rouge Aux Argillières - Domaine Nicolas Faure 2021
The vineyard estate
The Domaine Nicolas Faure is located in the heart of the Burgundy commune of Meuilley near Nuits-Saint-Georges. After a stint notably at Jean-Louis Chave, La Romanée Conti, and Prieuré-Roch, Nicolas Faure created his estate in 2014. The passionate and determined winemaker leads a double life. During the day, he works as a vineyard manager at the Bertaut-Gerbet estate (Fixin) run by his wife. In the evening, he cultivates his own vines in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Pernand-Vergelesses, Aloxe-Corton, in Pinot Noir, Gamay, Chardonnay, and Aligoté. His production is minimal, around 5'000 bottles.
Aware of environmental issues and with a concern for soil and biodiversity preservation, the winemaker tends his vines according to the principles of organic farming. His goal is to maintain low yields in order to harvest concentrated grapes while preserving the ecosystem and the harmonious balance between Man and vine.
In the cellar, the vinifications are minimally interventionist and sulfur is used in minimal quantities. Nicolas Faure manages to bring out the best from his plots to produce exceptional wines that reflect ancestral know-how and the work of an ambitious and passionate winemaker.
