Emmanuel Houillon - Pierre Overnoy Arbois-Pupillin 'Cire Blanche' Chardonnay 2015

The estate

The "mythical" Pierre Overnoy took over the family estate in 1968. The Pierre Overnoy estate is located in the small village of Pupillin, situated 3 km south of Arbois in the French Jura, where Pierre Overnoy particularly distinguished himself by vinifying his wines without the addition of sulfur since 1984, to the point of becoming an icon of natural wine.

It was the physicist Jules Chauvet, a talented taster and the father of the natural wine movement, who inspired him with his sharp approach and introduced him to the winemaking practices he has remained faithful to.

Format: 75 cl

Country: France

Region: Jura

Cultivation: biodynamics 🌱

Grape variety: Chardonnay

Tasting:

Color: straw yellow to golden, possibly showing slight evolution due to the age of the vintage.

Nose: complex and fine, with aromas of fresh yellow fruits, hints of citrus (lemon), white flowers, and sometimes slightly smoky or slightly milky.

Palate: dynamic, tense, and very energetic, with marked acidity and a well-present mineral quality that tickles the taste buds. Dense, fleshy material but without a fatty sensation, offering a deep structure and significant tension.

Finish: long, salivating, and fresh, characteristic of very well-made Chardonnays from the Jura that age well.
