L'Ouverture Blanc - Maison Glandien 2021 Magnum
The estate
Tino Kuban, a young Berlin winemaker well known for his estate Les Jardins Vivants, has also set up his own négociant house, Maison Glandien, alongside this meticulous work.
He sources grapes from partner and friend winemakers in various wine-growing regions: Burgundy, Beaujolais, Alsace, and the Jura. In recent vintages, some of the cuvées have even come directly from grapes grown on his own estate, Les Jardins Vivants. In every case, he seeks grapes grown using responsible, sustainable viticulture, in keeping with his high quality standards. Spontaneous fermentation, minimal use of sulfites, and aging in used barrels are the hallmarks of authentic, flavorful wines.
These wines have been a great success and are particularly hard to find.

Tasting: L’Ouverture Blanc from Maison Glandien is a 100% Riesling that is as original as it is delicious. Once they reach optimal ripeness, the Riesling grapes are harvested in the cool of the morning, in several passes, to select only the finest berries and preserve their freshness. At the winery, the grapes are vinified as whole bunches as naturally as possible. The fruit is pressed using a vertical press without a pump. Every step is carried out by gravity, with no racking. The winemaking process concludes with a long period of aging in barrels before bottling. |
