Chardonnay - Winery Roman Hermann 2020

The domain

The Hermanns no longer know today in which year the first wine was vinified on the estate. But the fact is that great-grandfather Leonhard already had the pleasure of making wine in addition to farming. At the time, around 1930, Pinot Noir was very common on the slopes of the Fläscher Halde. In 1975, Riesling-Sylvaner, Pinot Gris and Completer were added. The foundation stone of an innovative company was laid.

In 1982, Peter Hermann vinified the first vintage in the Hinterdorf and built the current winery together with his wife Rosmarie. The wine-growing couple were always open to novelty. Very quickly, they experimented with the use of barrels in the cellar and planted other grape varieties. Peter was thus the first winemaker of the Bündner Herrschaft to produce Sauvignon Blanc.

Roman operates 6 hectares of vines on the Fläscher Halde. The largest plot is made up of the terraces of the Fläscher Bad, laid out by grandfather Hanspeter during the land improvement in 1971. This historically old site is rocky, steep and steeped in history. We bathed there before using the hot springs of Bad Ragaz.
