The domain
Acquired by the GUIGAL family in 1995, the Château d'Ampuis was, upon its acquisition, listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments. From then on, a colossal restoration program was implemented in order to restore this building to its former prestige. This project, carried out under the direction of Mr. Jean-Gabriel MORTAMET, Chief Architect of Historic Monuments, lasted nearly 11 years, including a period with more than 100 people for nearly 5 years.
The Château d'Ampuis now houses the head office of Maison GUIGAL, the reception of the public being carried out in the historic cellars of the Domaine located in the heart of the town of Ampuis.
On its walls, proudly appears a motto taken from its prestigious past “Nothing good without pain”, which fully expresses the philosophy of this Rhone house.
