The domain
Since 1481, the Chaves family reigns supreme over the terroirs of the Hermitage. Yesterday Gérard, winemaker-farmer, in the noblest sense, today Jean-Louis. Undoubtedly the finest visionaries and observers of the Hermitage and beyond, of the French vineyard in general. Jean-Louis Chave brings all his know-how by completely redesigning the vision of the vineyard, each plot resembling a small Japanese garden drawn with a line.
Domaine Jean-Louis Chave signs two of the best wines of the Hermitage. THE blanc is a deep and precise wine built around Marsanne, whose proportion in the blend is never less than 80%. The aging incorporates little new wood.
L’Hermitage rouge is a powerful but refined wine, all in length, drawn from several localities including Bessards, Méal, Ermite and Péléat.
