Châteauneuf-du-Pape - Auguste Favier Reserve - Domaine Saint Préfert 2007 - Magnum

The domain

The Domaine Saint Préfert is a wine estate located in the famous region of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in the south of the Rhône Valley. The estate was founded by Fernand Serre around a century ago and was one of the first estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape to sell its wine in bottles in the 1930s. Saint Préfert belongs since 2003 to Isabel Ferrando and is best known for its quality production of traditional blends of Red and white Chateauneuf.

The estate is located on an 80-hectare plot in the south-west sector of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The vineyard is planted with approximately 13 hectares of vines over 60 years old, producing low and concentrated yields.

Some of the estate's oldest vines are Mourvèdre, planted as early as 1920, although there are also plantings of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsaut.

The soils are composed of gravel, rocks, stones and large pebbles called pebbles. Domaine Saint Préfert practices mass selection by replanting the vines with cuttings from exceptional old vines.

The Domaine Saint Préfert wine portfolio includes four red blends from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, two white blends from Châteauneuf-du-Pape and one red Côtes du Rhône.

The estate's Vielles Vignes Clairette Blanc is unique in the range, it is made from 100% Clairette from dry-grown vines that are up to 100 years old. The wine is aged for two years in wood before being bottled without filtration in magnum format bottles.
