IGT Toscana - Lupicaia - Castello del Terriccio 2011

The domain

Produced for the first time in 1993, Lupicaia is the estate's flagship vintage. Lupicaia, meaning “wolf zone” in Latin, is considered one of the best wines in Italy. The two red lines below Lupicaia refer to the red iron soils of its vineyard. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (planted on sandy and limestone soils which give it structure and freshness) and Petit Verdot (planted on rather clayey soils which give it balance and concentration) Lupicaia is a cuvée, a symbol of excellence

Tasting: surprisingly rich and dense ruby, slightly garnet on the edges. On the palate, the fruit is already ripe, opens with dense tannins, develops well, salty, long finish.
