Roman Amarone della Valpolicella - From the Roman oven 2001

The domain

Romano Dal Forno managed to achieve great popularity in a very short time. His winery, founded in 1983, produces 60,000 bottles – spread over three wines – which are among the most demanded and expensive in all of Italy. Thanks to low yields, a late harvest, great care in processing and above all also, thanks to the process of drying the grains called "appassimento", his wines are of incomparable concentration and diversity of aromas. The estate is located in Val d'Illasi, to the east of Verona. This funnel-shaped valley - wide in the plain and narrower as the altitude increases - has an almost alpine character from Selva di Progno.

The vineyard is located at about mid-altitude, where the slopes rise towards the mountains, even if the valley is still wide here and very sunny.
