Pauillac - Château Lafite Rothschild 2015
The estate
Among the first in the history of the classified growths of 1855 from Bordeaux, Château Lafite Rothschild is a lord on its gravel lands. Bearing a long winemaking tradition initiated in 1620, it has established itself over the centuries as a true standard-bearer of the Pauillac appellation on the Left Bank of the Bordeaux region.
Because great wines are born only in great terroirs, Château Lafite Rothschild benefits from an exceptional location with a vineyard divided into three large areas. From the hills surrounding the Château to the Carruades plateau to the west and a plot in the neighboring commune of Saint-Estèphe, Château Lafite Rothschild oversees a total of 112 hectares of vines planted on fine, deep gravel soils with sand on the surface, while the limestone subsoil allows for excellent drainage.

Tasting: the 2015 vintage benefited from exceptional climatic conditions, with a mild and rainy winter, a warm and dry spring, and a hot and sunny summer with some heatwaves. The rains at the end of August allowed for optimal ripening of the grapes, and the harvest took place in pleasant weather. The result is rich wines, with a balanced tannic structure and great concentration with significant aging potential. |
