Pauillac - Château Latour 1998
The estate
The history of Château Latour dates back to the 14th century, when the original tower was built on the estate by Gaucelme de Castillon during the Hundred Years' War. Today, the château is owned by François Pinault and his group, Artemis. The 78 hectares of the Latour vineyard, located in the Pauillac appellation, rests on an exceptional, if not extraordinary, terroir strategically located on the edge of the Gironde estuary. It is planted with 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc, not to mention Petit Verdot.
