Saint-Émilion Grand Cru - Château Pavie-Decesse 1998

The domain

In the shadow cast by its glorious elder, which it nevertheless dominates from all its height, located on the limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion, the Château Pavie-Decesse, purchased by Gérard Perse in 1997, a year before the Castle Pavia, is one of those "happy few" who belong to the leading group of Grands Crus Classés of Saint-Emilion.

Owned by Gérard Perse since 1997, the prestigious Castle Pavia is a Premier Grand Cru classified A from Saint-Emilion since 2012 (classified B previously), with the stars Ausone, Angélus and Cheval Blanc. Located 35km east of Bordeaux (Dordogne right bank), it is the neighbor of the La Gaffelière and Larcis Ducasse estates. and Pavie Decesse to name but a few. The vines of Castle Pavia, 43 years old on average, extend over 37 hectares with three very distinct terroirs: the plateau (limestone), the coast (clay-limestone) and the foot of the coast (sandy-clay). The density of the vines, cultivated in sustainable agriculture, is 5,800 vines/ha, and the grape varieties are as follows: Merlot (65%), Cabernet Franc (25%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%).
