Chablis Premier Cru - Butteaux - Francois Raveneau 2009 Magnum
The domain
Born in 1948 from the marriage of two great Chablis families (the Raveneau and the Dauvissat), the Domaine Raveneau is the benchmark for Chablis. Indeed, and for several decades now, this estate has been the greatest expression of what a Chablis wine can give.
The estate, quite compact, covers 7.5 ha, notably in Butteaux, Chapelot and Montée de Tonnerre for the Premiers Crus, Valmur, les Clos and Blanchot for the Grands Crus.
All wine spends at least one year in barrel. The resulting wines are lively, ample and complex.

Tasting: The deep, complex and high-class nose offers scents of apple, lemon, grapefruit zest, a beautiful smoky note and a very fine base of complex minerality. On the palate, the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and quite open on the attack (as desired by the 2009 vintage), with a beautiful core of fruit, a beautiful cut and a mineral momentum on the finish, as well as a excellent concentration and emerging complexity on the long finish. |
