Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru - Domaine des Lambrays 2005

The domain

At the heart and at the top of the property is the Clos des Lambrays. There are also two plots of Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru and four of Morey-Saint-Denis village, all planted with Pinot Noir. With the acquisition of a few ouvrées of Chardonnay in two different Climats of Premier Cru in Puligny-Montrachet, les Folatières and Clos du Cailleret, the Domaine was formed.

The estate is also a castle and its cellars built from the 17th century, and one of the most beautiful parks in the region, where 300-year-old cedars, cattleyas and collectible roses rub shoulders. This classic aesthetic of the place contributes to the aesthetics of the wine.

Resulting from the quasi-monopoly of the domain on this Grand Cru, the Clos des Lambrays of the Domaine des Lambrays is vast on the scale of Burgundy. The plot is far from being homogeneous, its gentle slopes offer a diversity of exposures important for the complexity of the wine. The top of the Clos is more marly while the bottom mixes clay with limestone.

The wine is aged in the cellars of the Domaine, in oak barrels that are half renewed for each vintage. The Clos des Lambrays is the heart of the Domaine des Lambrays.
