Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru - Domaine des Lambrays 2005 - 6L
The Estate
At the heart and peak of the property is the Clos des Lambrays. There are also 2 plots of Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru and 4 of Morey-Saint-Denis village, all planted with Pinot Noir. With the acquisition of a few acres of Chardonnay in two different Premier Cru Climats in Puligny-Montrachet, the Folatières and the Clos du Cailleret, the Estate was formed.
The estate also includes a castle and its cellars built from the 17th century, and one of the most beautiful parks in the region, where three-hundred-year-old cedars, catleyas, and collection roses coexist. This classic aesthetic of the place contributes to the wine's character.
Coming from the estate's near-monopoly on this Grand Cru, the Clos des Lambrays of Domaine des Lambrays is vast by Burgundy standards. The plot is far from homogeneous; its gentle slopes offer significant exposure diversity for the wine's complexity. The top of the Clos is more marl-rich while the bottom mixes clay with limestone.
The wine is aged in the estate's cellars, in oak barrels renewed by half each vintage. The Clos des Lambrays is the heart of Domaine des Lambrays.

Tasting: a magnificent and pure wine, combining freshness and intense richness. It seems to float while offering a broad palate with aromas of plums and coffee, as well as soft and juicy tannins. A straight line of pure flavors leading to the finish. |
