Emmanuel Houillon - Pierre Overnoy Arbois-Pupillin Ploussard - Trousseau - Cire Violette 2018

The estate

The "mythical" Pierre Overnoy took over the family estate in 1968. The estate Pierre Overnoy is located in the small village of Pupillin, situated 3 km south of Arbois in the French Jura, where Pierre Overnoy particularly distinguished himself by vinifying his wines without the addition of sulfur since 1984, to the point of becoming an icon of natural wine.

It was the physicist Jules Chauvet, a talented taster and the father of the natural wine movement, who inspired him with his sharp approach and introduced him to the winemaking practices to which he has remained faithful.

Format: 75 cl

Country: France

Region: Jura

Cultivation: biodynamics 🌱

Grapes: Poulsard, Trousseau

Tasting:

Color:
Very light ruby red color, almost translucent with orange reflections — typical of Poulsard in the natural Jura style.

Nose:
Delicate and subtle aromas, combining fresh red berries (wild strawberry, currant, cherry), with light floral notes (rose, peony) and hints of sweet spices or black tea. The olfactory expression is elegant, airy yet complex.

Palate:
On the palate, the wine is of great finesse and lightness, with bright acidity perfectly balanced by a silky texture. The tannins are ultra-fine and delicate, supporting a persistent aromatic freshness, with a slight saline minerality and nuances of citrus and spices in the finish.

Finish:
Long, floral, and mineral finish, leaving a vibrant and saline sensation that extends the expression of red fruits and dried flowers.
