Saint-Aubin En Remilly Premier Cru - Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey 2014
The domain
Maison Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is a Burgundy producer based in Chassagne-Montrachet, in the Côte de Beaune sub-region. It is known for its fine Chardonnay wines, and owns most of its vineyards in Saint-Aubin. The estate was created in 2005 by the couple Pierre-Yves Colin and Catherine Morey, both children of renowned Burgundy winegrowers.
Colin had been a winemaker in the family winery since 1995, and in 2001 he started a trading business with his wife. In 2005 he left the family estate to create his own label with his share of six hectares (15 acres) - the rest of the Colin vineyards remained in the hands of his three siblings (Caroline, Joseph and Damien, who run Domaine Marc Colin).
Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey has interests in several premier cru sites in Saint-Aubin and Chassagne-Montrachet, including Chatèniere, Champlots, Remilly, Chenevottes and Caillerets. In addition, the estate buys grapes to make wines in several grands crus, including Bâtard-Montrachet and Corton-Charlemagne.
The estate mainly produces Chardonnay, but also produces a small amount of Pinot Noir from Saint-Aubin and Santenay.
In the cellar, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey does not practice battonage but favors prolonged contact with the lees and aging in barrels. The wines are bottled without filtration and often without fining.
