Haut-Médoc - Château Sociando Mallet 2018 6 Liters
The domain
Located on one of the most beautiful gravel terroirs in the Haut Medoc, the Château Sociando-Mallet has long been held in high esteem in the hearts of Left Bank lovers of Bordeaux.
Located at the top of the mound of Baleyron in the town of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne to the north of Pauillac Since the 17th century, Château Sociando-Mallet has dominated the Gironde estuary.
First property of the aristocrat Sieur Sociando, family Mallet acquired the property in the 19th century and added his name to it. It was in 1969 that Jean Gautreau discovered Château Sociando-Mallet and immediately fell under its spell. Renovation of buildings, construction of a winery, extension of the vineyard and improvement of the grape varieties, thanks to the new impetus of Jean Gautreau, its energy and its passion, Château Sociando-Mallet will write a new page in its history and will become one of the most respected properties in the Médoc, often compared to the greatest Crus Classés. The daughter of Jean Gautreau, Sylvia took up the torch of the family heritage with the same passion and energy as his father, continuing to breathe this Sociando-Mallet spirit into the property.

Tasting: Castle Sociando Mallet produces wines of great regularity thanks in particular to its magnificent vineyard which occupies one of the most beautiful gravelly terroirs of the Médoc. This 2018 vintage (once again falling for something in the Guide Hachette des Vins) displays a nice structure, abundant tannins with a very good balance! It even has a certain immediate elegance and admirable persistence! A wine with an inimitable identity that will cause a sensation! |
