Hermitage La Chapelle - Paul Jaboulet senior 1996
The domain
For nearly two hundred years, the hills of the Hermitage have carefully guarded the secret of a meeting, at the origin of an extraordinary story... In 1834, Antoine Jaboulet (1807 - 1864) became attached to the lands of the region and now links its destiny to that of this generous terroir. By dint of hard work and passion, his vines will offer him a wine of exceptional quality, perpetuated by his sons Paul and Henri. It is Paul who will then give his name to the company. Since then, the generations have continued to follow one another. The Frey family, long-time Champagne winegrowers and owners of Château La Lagune in Bordeaux, took over Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné in January 2006 to complete its portfolio of prestigious brands. La Chapelle, based on the hills of the Hermitage, reigns over the Rhone Valley. In the 13th century, returning from the Crusades, it welcomed the Knight of Sterimberg. Later it will become the flagship of the family, the Hermitage La Chapelle, offering tasters great sensations. The 1961 vintage will be ranked among the twelve mythical bottles of the 20th century, of which a few bottles and magnums are still dormant at Jaboulet and in a few cellars around the world... For almost two centuries, the company has been offering the consumer the product of ancestral know-how. , placing excellence at the heart of its strategy. To perpetuate these values, the company reinforces this heritage, both in the vineyard through new acquisitions and in the quality of the wines while respecting the environment.
