IGP Alpilles - Domaine de Trevallon 2008
The domain
Eloi and Floriane Dürrbach planted the vineyard in 1973, and since then have made Trévallon one of the jewels of the French vineyard. Located on the northern slope of the Alpilles, the 17 hectares of vines surrounded by wild and preserved nature have been cultivated organically since the beginning. The cool microclimate, the gentle pruning and the predominantly limestone soil are at the origin of the very particular style of the wines. The Dürrbachs do not claim the Baux-de-Provence appellation, because their grape varieties do not meet the standards of the specifications: cabernet-sauvignon and syrah for the reds, roussanne and marsanne for the whites, supplemented with a little chardonnay. Red, which has become legendary just like white, has real aging potential and the work of time gives it additional finesse of expression. Stunning !
