L'Ouverture Blanc - Maison Glandien 2022
The estate
Tino Kuban, a well-known young Berlin winemaker with his estate Les Jardins Vivants, has also set up his own négociant house, Maison Glandien, alongside this rigorous work.
He sources grapes from partner growers and friends in various wine-growing regions, including Burgundy, Beaujolais, Alsace, and the Jura. In recent vintages, some of the cuvées have even come directly from grapes grown on his own estate, Les Jardins Vivants. In every case, he seeks grapes from sustainable, responsible farming, meeting his high standards of quality. During winemaking, spontaneous fermentation, minimal use of sulfites, and aging in used barrels all contribute to authentic, delicious wines.
These wines have been a great success and are particularly hard to find.

Tasting: L’ouverture white wine from Maison Glandien is a 100% Riesling that is as original as it is delicious. Once fully ripe, the Riesling grapes are harvested in the cool of the morning over several passes, selecting only the finest berries and preserving their freshness. At the winery, the grapes are vinified as whole clusters as naturally as possible. The fruit is pressed using a vertical press without a pump. Every step is carried out by gravity, without racking. The winemaking process concludes with a long period of aging in barrels before bottling. |
