Mizuiro Les Saugettes - Domaine des Miroirs 2012

The domain

Originally from Japan, Kenjiro Kagami gave in to the charms of France and decided to settle there in 2001. This engineer at Hitachi is also a great lover of wine, which motivated him to quickly launch into oenology studies in Chambolle-Musigny, in Burgundy. For two years, Kenjiro enriched his knowledge and dreamed of only one thing: creating his own estate and producing a wine that resembles him.

In 2010, his friend Jean-François Ganevat managed to convince Kenjiro and his wife Mayumi to settle down in the Jura, and more precisely in the small village of Grusse. On limestone slopes not far away, the now professional winegrower finally founded his "Domaine des Miroirs". An area that definitely lives up to its name, since “kagami” means “mirror” in Japanese. When work reflects the man.

On 3 hectares of vines, Kenjiro Kagami grows mainly Chardonnay and Savagnin (with just a little Poulsard and Trousseau). Here, everything is organic, and the wines are 100% natural. The vintages are aged in old barrels, without sulfur, for 4 to 5 years. A simplicity that hits the mark: the winemaker exports nearly 80% of his production to Japan, which explains why his bottles are so rare in France.
