Grand Cru Extra Brut - Lieux-dits "La Côte Faron" Blanc de Noirs Ay - Jacques Selosse
The Estate
The estate was founded in 1949 in Avize by Jacques Selosse. Taken over in 1974 by his son Anselme, then aged 20, it produces its wines artisanally and with respect for the vineyards of high-quality Champagne. Every year, 57,000 bottles leave the estate. Production quantities are therefore limited, making these cuvées rare and highly sought-after. Covering an area of 7.5 hectares, the estate comprises 47 plots, located mainly in the Côte des Blancs. Since Anselme took over its management, a few changes have taken place, particularly regarding yields and viticultural methods. An environmentalist at heart, he decided to favor low yields. He adopted organic viticulture without seeking any certification. This allows him to stand out from other Houses and offer exceptional wines.

Tasting: deep gold in color. The nose is initially discreet and requires a little time, then reveals aromas of crème brûlée and increasingly of herbs, flowers, hay, and straw: an entire summer meadow unfolds before me. Structured, powerful, and dense on the palate, without being heavy, with herbal, coffee, and nutty notes; a perfect balance, a wine full of tension. A wonderfully long finish. |
