Meursault Blanc - Coche Dury 2023
The domaine
Jean-François Coche Dury, assisted by his son Raphaël, produces wines that Chardonnay lovers—and, more particularly, white Burgundy lovers—from around the world eagerly seek out, and the critics are full of praise. His domaine covers more than 10.5 hectares, including 9 in Meursault. Instantly recognizable, his wines are precise and have typical aromas reminiscent of hazelnut. They generally benefit from exceptional length.
The most prestigious wines are aged in new barrels, with 50% of the barrels being new. Unlike most other Burgundy domaines, the whites are aged longer than the reds (20 versus 18 months on average). They are bottled by hand without prior filtration. It is difficult to choose among Coche Dury’s Meursaults to determine which is the best. They are all highly sought-after, but it is probably the domaine’s Corton-Charlemagne that makes its devotees dream the most. The red Burgundies, although less renowned than the whites, are of excellent quality.

Tasting: The Meursaults from Domaine Coche Dury develop intense aromas of honey and linden, with a round, silky flavor and a very long finish evoking plum and, above all, hazelnut. This toasted aroma is the domaine’s olfactory signature. |
