Pessac-Léognan - Château Haut-Brion 2009
The domain
Oldest of the Grands Crus of Bordeaux, Château Haut-Brion benefits from a rich heritage built over five centuries of history. Founded in 1533 by Jean de Pontac on the territory of Graves, the wine of Château Haut-Brion was quickly coveted and appreciated by the greatest monarchs of Europe. In 1663, Samuel Pepys, member of the English Parliament, will participate without knowing it in the success of Château Haut-Brion thanks to his diary, by writing " And there, I drank a kind of French wine called Ho-Bryan which had a very particular good taste that I had never encountered... ". The legend was born.
Château Haut-Brion will obtain the rare title of Premier Grand Cru Grand Cru Classified Classification of 1855, becoming the Premier Grand Cru Classé outside Medoc and will also be recognized as Cru Classé des Graves At Official classification of Graves wines of 1959.
