Pomerol - Château Rouget 2015

The domain

This estate extends over 18 hectares within the Pomerol appellation. It benefits from a clayey-gravelly soil, on which are planted vines that are 30 years old on average. Its grape variety is composed of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc.

Its owner, the Labruyère family, also present in Beaujolais and Burgundy, favors low yields (30 to 35hl/ha) and manual harvesting in crates. The aging of the wine takes place in oak barrels, half of which are renewed each year.

The vines, which are around forty years old on average, are planted at a density of 7,500 vines/ha. The harvest is done manually in 20 kg crates with an intra-plot approach to guarantee an optimal level of maturity. Selective sorting at reception on a double table and ginning.
