Saint Émilion Grand Cru - Château Troplong Mondot 1995

The estate

In a region where most properties barely exceed 10 hectares, Troplong Mondot (founded in the 17th century) is one of the great estates of Saint-Emilion with its 33 hectares. Château Troplong Mondot, Premier Grand Cru Classé, stands at the top of the Saint-Emilion appellation with a grape variety composition of Merlot at 90%, Cabernet Franc at 5%, and Cabernet Sauvignon at 5%. Coming from a great clay-limestone terroir, the wine of Troplong Mondot possesses complex tannins that develop over time with deep aromas of black truffle. Christine Valette-Pariente and her husband Xavier Pariente have managed the estate together since 1980 and have ensured the excellence of powerful, finely structured wines, endowed with ample and complex tannins, with a nose of truffle and blackberries. Following the acquisition of Château Troplong Mondot by the SCOR group in 2017, Aymeric de Gironde, formerly General Director of Cos d'Estournel, took the presidency of the property’s board and aims to make Troplong Mondot one of the greatest wines in the world.

Tasting: a beautiful dark purple color. A powerful nose blending mineral, vanilla, currant, cocoa, with youthful aromas still very present. Rich, complex, generous, and round on the palate, it presents finely integrated spicy tannins and excellent structure. The finish is persistent and fruity.
