Sonorité du Vent Les Saugettes - Domaine des Miroirs 2021
The estate
Originally from Japan, Kenjiro Kagami fell under France’s spell and decided to settle there in 2001. An engineer at Hitachi, he is also a great wine enthusiast, which quickly motivated him to pursue oenology studies in Chambolle-Musigny, Burgundy. Over the course of two years, Kenjiro expanded his knowledge and dreamed of just one thing: creating his own estate and producing a wine that reflected his personality.
In 2010, his friend Jean-François Ganevat managed to convince Kenjiro and his wife Mayumi to move to the Jura, more precisely to the small village of Grusse. On the limestone slopes not far away, the now professional winemaker finally founded his "Domaine des Miroirs". An estate that truly lives up to its name, since "kagami" means "mirror" in Japanese. When the work reflects the man.
On 3 hectares of vines, Kenjiro Kagami primarily grows Chardonnay and Savagnin (with just a little Poulsard and Trousseau). Here, everything is organic, and the wines are 100% natural. The cuvées are aged in old barrels, without sulfur, for 4 to 5 years. A simplicity that hits the mark: the winemaker exports nearly 80% of his production to Japan, which explains why his bottles are so rare in France.
